Fixed a regression in parameter binding where it would be overly strict and reject plain objects from other realms (e.g., in jest tests).

Version 13.0.0 marks a major milestone, as it's the first version of better-sqlite3 to run on the N-API. This means prebuilt binaries should theoretically work across different versions of Node.js and Electron, and perhaps even other runtimes like Bun. As a result, we've removed the deprecated prebuild-install dependency, and now prebuilt binaries are published directly with the better-sqlite3 code itself. If your platform/architecture doesn't have a prebuilt binary, it should compile during install as before.

Why SQLite v3.51.3 instead of v3.52.0

From the SQLite team:

Some important issues have been found with version 3.52.0. In order to give us time to deal with those issues, we plan to withdraw the 3.52.0 release. In its place, we will put up a new 3.51.3 patch release that includes a fix for the recently discovered WAL-reset bug as well as other patches. This will happen probably within about the next twelve hours.

Hence, if you were planning to upgrade to 3.52.0 tomorrow (Friday, 2026-03-14), perhaps it would be better to wait a day or so for 3.51.3.

At some point we will do version 3.52.1 which will hopefully resolve the issues that have arisen with the 3.52.0 release.

Superseded by 466cd09, which takes better-sqlite3 to 12.11.1 instead. v13 dropped prebuild-install, so every install compiles through node-gyp, and node:alpine carries neither Python nor a C++ toolchain — that is why this was red at Dockerfile:42 while the runner’s own install succeeded. 12.11.1 is still a major move from the pinned 11.9.1, still ships prebuilt binaries for every Node ABI we use including linuxmusl-arm64, and needs nothing added to the image.
