Why

docs/competition-relay.md is a 1 September 2026 snapshot and says so
honestly. Relay shipped 0.8.12 on 9 September. The document's own rule is
that it exists "so that competitive claims are made from evidence rather than
from memory of a website" — which means it has to be re-read, not recalled.

What changed, as of 21 September 2026

Stable is 0.8.12 (was 0.7.12 / beta 0.8.10). minAppVersion: 1.6.6.
~207,900 downloads, 526 stars.
Canvas multiplayer graduated — default-on and free on every tier, merging
nodes and edges rather than whole-file. Our table still says "beta".
Disk-edit ingestion for AI agents — their headline feature, explicitly
naming Claude Code and Codex, with a relay-skills repository. Unrecorded by
us entirely.
Plugin API v0 made public, with a typed relay-plugin-api.d.ts.
Bases (.base) sync by default, requiring storage.
Relay-Comments shipped as a separate beta plugin, CriticMarkup in-file.
Continuous background sync shipped — our roadmap section lists it as
Active. We have had it since Phase 6, and no document says we were ahead.
console.relay.md now also carries display name and avatar.
Three open, maintainer-reproduced data-corruption bugs: #135, #136, #137.
Password auth removed entirely (their #133); OAuth only.

Pricing: unchanged

Free / Hobby $5 flat / Starter $6 per user / Premium $18 per user, with the same
storage tiers. Our parity pricing from 18 September still holds. One unresolved
conflict worth noting in the document: their pricing page says Starter is
unlimited users, their README says 50.

What to do

Re-fetch and rewrite with a new snapshot date. Keep the existing discipline —
sources listed, inference labelled as inference, and the warning that the
download counter is not a user count.
